Jaume Plensa at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park

So glad I popped along to see the most incredible work by Jaume Plensa. Based in Paris and Barcelona he works with materials such as iron, copper and bronze and more recently - resin, glass and plastic to name a few.

The venue is perfect for his dominating work - they are massive.

The above picture is definitely my favourite work - two huge heads, outdoors, positioned on top of the gallery roof and can be viewed from a number of angles.

His work works well both indoors and outdoors...the indoor work more eerie

Yohji Yamamoto @ the V&A

Yohji Yamamoto - A major exhibtion at the V&A - on until July.

amazing to see his 'old' work in the flesh...especially his work from the 1990's - find the pattern cutting and fabrics more interesting.

best bit of video starts @ 2mins 17 - you tube has named it as his Spring 1999 collection - its actually 1998 and named 'Playing with Tradition'.

Having recently been to 'Future Beauty - 30 years of Japanese Fashion' where Yamamoto had a large presence, it was was great to see a show entirely dedicated to him.

Georges Dambier

Catherine and Her Surfboard, Biarritz, 1959

Suzy Parker, 1952

Two of my favourite Georges Dambier Photos....

Dambier's first fashion shoot for Elle launched him into a sucessful career as a fashion photographer. Loving his unique way of capturing models ensuring energy and personality can be seen through the photograph, a somewhat different style approach to other photographers shooting at the time....

..........plus I LOVE leopard print

Dont walk Charity Show

another little trip down memory avenue..

Realising you can't really see the clothes at all. A collection I designed a few years ago appeared on the St Andrew's charity catwalk (same one Kate Middleton appeared on in the see through dress). Will dig out photos

Sunday 3 April 2011

a quick trip down memory lane

having a bit of a tidy and came across these piccies which were taken an age ago....the top one is of the lovely Pops and myself during a project on foundation (2006) at CSM...this was just taken before attempting to get into the Serpentine in Hyde Park - bear in mind it was October time

The 2nd must have been taken whilst still at school......
