Anndra Neen and Aurelie Bidermann - Jewellery

Anndra Neen
Aurelie Bidermann

Kirna Zabete has to be one of the best New York boutiques selling a selective range of designer items including clothing (Balmain, Alexander Wang etc), bags, shoes and jewellery.
In the jewellery dept. these two designers stood out - Anndra Neen with her industrial look handbags and bracelets and French designer Aurelie Bidermann with a range of delicate but 'substantial' pieces.

Temperley London

Temperley London - Fall 2010 Ready to Wear
always having a peek at what Alice Temperley is up to...based in Notting Hill she has team working beside her designing and creating both print and garment....a strong example of a designer who does both, and well.

Ballet Russe - Tim Walker

In last months Vogue (Oct), Tim Walker, transformed model Karlie Kloss into his interpretation of Sergei Diaghilev's world of the Ballet Russe.
Tim Walker, as well as being one of my other favourite photographers, has a way of setting up a strong narrative in his work especially through costume and props, creating 'dream-like' worlds (with help from collegue, Shona Heath).

Save Goldhawk Road....please

Been off to buy more fabric today and was reminded that it is coming up to the date where a decision whether the row of shops (mostly fabric) on Goldhawk Rd, Shephards Bush are going to be closed down or not.....please join the group to try and save them...they are very reliable suppliers to probably most of the CSM BA printers....

Wall of Death

if you haven't seen this spectacle..then you must...not sure they include lions in the act anymore though.

The last time I saw the show 'in action' was this summer, up North. The group that is touring at the moment is the 'Ken Fox troupe'...(Basically Ken and his family).....Go Go Go Go Go

loving the image as well

Lucien Clergue

Found these images by Lucien Clergue while researching in the 'Fashion Institute of Technology' library in NYC. It holds a resemblance with an area of work I am currently looking at - the Ballet Russes (very very good timing for a show to be put on at the V&A) and the idea of narrative through visuals.

Victoria's Secret Shoot - Hudson Studios - NYC

Having a peek through some New York photos...these are taken (pretty much) at the top of Hudson Studios in Chelsea/Greenwich while on shoot for Victoria's Secret. Views from pretty much all the bulidings were amazing but this was slightly different....Think the idea at the time of being near water was a pretty damn nice one too.....it was in the high 80's!

'Hell's Half Acre' at the Old Vic tunnels

Last week at the opening of 'Hell's Half Acre'...

An exhibition well worth seeing, eclectic mix of some really morbid pieces..amazingly curated

The 'ball' structure is covered in needle syringes

Beautiful Space

In my opion the most beautiful architectural spaces are the untouched and derelict, giving a sense of time and distance.

Above are a selected few images I have taken, recording different 'derelict' situations, mainly in Yorkshire warehouse spaces. As well as the aesthetics of the buildings - it is the quiet and eerie atmosphere that is intriguing.

Mary McCartney - Photography

all previous by Mary McCartney

A recent trip to The National Portrait Gallery to see the wonderful work of Mary McCartney (sister of Stella) emphasised the fact of how much I admire her work. Having already had a quick flick through her new book 'From Where I Stand', It was great to see the real thing

Throughout her photography she has captured a relaxed and genuine portrayal of each of her subjects whether a model, celebrity, actor or family.

Her bohemian upbringing and attitude shine through........the book is on my wish list.

Costume Designer - Edith Head

While exploring the relationship between fashion and cinema, at the moment, looking closely at Haute Couture in film, I have become interested in the work and life of (the late) costume designer Edith Head. She has designed for films such as 'Anthing Goes' - 1956, 'Sylvia' -1965 and 'The Yellow Rolls Royce' - 1965, to name a few.

Many of the famous Hollywood stars for over four decades have been dressed by her and she has been recognised as a hard working, adaptable designer - winning 8 academy awards for her work and given a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

As well as her work, it is her personal style which is very much a source of inspiration
